When the Rolling Tundra Revue hits the band's hometown on April 17 & 18, they will be donating a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales to this very worthy cause. Fans have the opportunity to get in on the fun too, by buying a raffle ticket in support of MYS.

Rolling Tundra Revue Gets Rolling This Week!
The Weakerthans and Constantines are ready to hit the road. The tour kicks off next Thursday in St. Johns, NF, and will continue to roll across Canada until they hit Whitehorse YT on May 4. It’s a busy weekend as the bands finish the laundry, cancel the newspaper for a few weeks, and charge up the iPods before heading out on the road.

If you haven’t already picked up tickets, there are still some available. Check out our concerts page www.theweakerthans.org/concerts for full details on show dates, locations, and ticket links. You’ll also see which other bands will be joining the tour at each stop.

Rock, Don’t Drive!

Touring from one end of the country to the other is no small feat, and The Weakerthans are well aware of the environmental impact of things like tour buses which burn fuel, and audio/lighting systems which draw electricity. The Rolling Tundra Revue is attempting to control some of the environmental impact that this tour will have, and we’ve solicited advice from across Canada about how to mitigate some of these effects. As the tour progresses, we’ll be letting people know how it’s going. We don’t for a second think that we’re alleviating all of the environmental impact of our tour, but we’re hoping we can make some change and encourage others to do the same.

We’re also hoping to get the fans involved. One easy way to do this is to use transit, carpools, or human power to get to the shows. To encourage people to think about the way they get to the show we are producing a special piece of merchandise for this tour. When you’re picking up your CDs and shirts at the concerts, show our merch sellers your bus pass, your bike helmet, or even your carpool gang and we’ll give you a special button to say thanks for your efforts. These will be specially produced in Canada from North American materials, and will not be for sale.

In partnership with Macdonald Youth Services

The Weakerthans are pleased to be supporting local charity Macdonald Youth Services at their two upcoming Winnipeg shows, April 17th & 18th at the Burton Cummings Theatre. MYS fosters hope and opportunities to empower children, youth and families throughout Manitoba to grow and heal through safe, caring, respectful and collaborative relationships. In addition to donating a portion of proceeds and merchandise sales to MYS, Epiphone Guitars has donated an SG guitar that will be signed by the band and played by John K. Samson during these shows. The guitar will a given away in a contest draw; donate to MYS to enter. More info on how to get in on this contest is available at www.mys.ca

Have a great trip, don’t forget to write!

Rolling Tundra Revue: Canadian National Tour 2009.
The Weakerthans are pleased to announce the most expansive national tour they have ever done. Staring on March 18 in St John's NFLD, the band will rock their way across Canada from East to West and then North. By the time they reach Whitehorse Yukon, on May 4 they will have hit 21 cities between The Rock and Vancouver Island, as well as travelling north of the 60th parallel. Joining the band once again will be Toronto's Constantines, their touring mates for the inaugural Rolling Tundra Revue in 2005 (and whose 2008 album “Kensington Heights” in one of our favourites of this year). It seems rare that bands of this stature will undertake a tour of this magnitude, so gear up for an amazing concert and cultural event! See our concerts page for concert listings in your city.
